ISFR CHAMPIONSHIP 2012
WELCOME TO "SESTRIERE 2012"!
A warm welcome to all visitors who wish to have information about the event that will feature the Rotarian year 2011-2012: ISFR Ski Championships in Sestrière to be held:
February 25 to March 3, 2012.
The tradition of skiing championships reserved to Rotarians, their families, young people of Rotaract, and Inner Wheel and their guests now boasts two decades, during which the event took place in fascinating scenarios such as Val Badia, Madonna di Campiglio, Madesimo, San Martino di Castrozza, and in 2011, Engelberg in Switzerland.
This year, for the first time, the event is held in Sestrière, Italy, in District 2030 which includes the Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d'Aosta, and is held, in the land that has seen the birth and development of the dream of the unity of Italy. The choice was made in Engelberg, just March 17th 2011, the day when the official celebrations began of the 150th anniversary of the unity which is an auspicious date that sheds particular light on the championships.
The organizing committee, composed of about twenty skiers and Rotarians, has prepared a rich program of events: four official races (in addition to the three "traditional" events: the giant slalom, cross country skiing and skiing uphill, (this year there will also be a snowboard race), plus daily competitions on the Olympic slopes, afternoons in fellowship, and a final gala dinner with the participation of one or more stars of the show.
Tours are planned for non-skiers, who will have the opportunity to visit and admire the wonders of Turin, the Venaria, the Cinema Museum, the Egyptian Museum, Palazzo Madama.
In short, a set of initiatives that will make this Championship unforgettable!
A recommendation: if you are interested, don’t wait for booking: although there is wide availability in Sestrière, the prices of the rooms are guaranteed only until 30 November.
After this date, provided that you can still book rooms, prices could be a little higher, and perhaps the most beautiful hotel where you should dream to spend the week could already be fully booked.

WHY SESTRIERE?

1. Sestriere is a beautiful ITALIAN alpine village located 80 km west of Turin at 2035 mt. a.s.l.
2. Sestriere is part of the Vialattea skiing resort. It offers up to 400 km of trails and the chance of skiing in different areas which are all linked by lifts and trails.
3. It’s easy to get there.
4. The ski-racing organization is simply great.
5. The ski area is huge.
6. Snow conditions are always good because of the artificial snow system.
