Today was an important day in Sestriere. On Tuesday, September 3rd, FIS representatives Peter Gerdol, Markus Mayr, Andreas Krönner, and Giulia Candiago have carried out an executive survey in the planning phase for the double date with the Audi FIS Ski World Cup races. A women’s giant slalom race and a women’s parallel slalom will be held on the Vialattea Olympic slopes on Saturday 18th and Sunday 20th of January 2020.
The races are just over 4 months away and the organization is working at full throttle to be ready for the international appointment. The FIS executives – as well as the Infront and FISI (Italian winter sports federation) representatives attending the rendezvous – have analyzed all the operational aspects in depth and have defined – together with Gualtiero Brasso, President of the local Organizing Committee – the guidelines to follow. It was agreed to mostly retrace the successful format of the 2016 edition – the last time two World Cup races were held in Sestriere. The workgroup then moved from the race slope – the Kandahar Giovanni Alberto Agnelli – to all the locations that will host official moments of the event.
“I am satisfied of this day of work, which has certainly been very productive – states Gualtiero Brasso – and represents a significant moment in the organization. The cooperation with FIS and all of the entities involved is fundamental for the positive outcome of the event.”
