March 31st: Everyone on the slopes!
Francesca and Matteo Marsaglia will be the event endorsers
The 38th edition of the Uovo d’Oro Audi (Audi golden egg) reaches the Vialattea slopes three weeks before the Easter celebrations, but the format of the long-awaited ski event – one of the final competitions of the winter season – will remain typically “eastery”: an Easter egg will be given to all participants along with the incredibly rich goody bag, and a giant, hand-decorated chocolate egg will be given to the ski club earning the 1st place. All this will be accompanied by the traditional event mascot, the jolly egg-shaped skier.
The competition, organized by Sporting Club Sestrieres, is planned to take place in Sestriere on Sunday, March 31st. Once again, as a further confirmation of the importance that the world of snow, mountains, and winter tourism has for our territory, the Piedmont regional office has renewed its patronage of the event, jointly with the city of Sestriere.
As always, five giant slalom courses will be set up on the Alpette slopes, thus allowing the competitors in the five categories – Super Baby, Baby, Cuccioli, Ragazzi, and Allievi, born between 2003 and 2012 – to race simultaneously and limit waiting time, as there will be once again an impressive number of participants from all over Italy and even abroad, attracted not only by the high competition level, but even the rich jackpot.
At the end of the race all the contestants will have the chance to enjoy the amusing sponsor village set up over the spacious finish area, where they may pick up their backpack sponsored by Cisalfa, containing: an Audi t-shirt customized for the event, “baci di dama” (lady’s kiss) biscuits offered by Maison della Nocciola, Perlier & Kelemata products, Lauretana mineral water, coupons for the Sauze d’Oulx Adventure Village, Bontà di Stagione soup, Yoga fruit juice, coupons for Predieri Abbigliamento and Cisalfa clothing and sportswear stores… and of course the classic chocolate egg as a Happy Easter wish!
After their successes in the World Cup, the Marsaglia brothers confirmed their return to the event: Francesca and Matteo will know how to motivate the contestants and, like always, will be available for photos and to sign autographs.
Just like in the World Cup, the winning Club will be awarded by summing the points of the athletes earning top positions, a girl and a boy per ski club, per category, with the exception of the Super Baby category. The team to beat is Sestriere, which – after a 3-year break – claimed the trophy in the past edition.
The afternoon will feature the fun and colorful parade of all the ski clubs along the town streets. The parade will be introduced by the Grugliasco flag-throwers and will end in Piazza Fraiteve, where the award ceremony will take place, along with a draw of fantastic prizes for athletes, coaches, and clubs.
As well as the traditional cup and the goody bag full of fantastic gifts, the top 10 athletes will be rewarded with a Rossignol windstopper jacket, customized for the event. The top 3 athletes in the Cuccioli, Baby, and Super Baby categories will be given a free entrance ticket to Leolandia amusement park. Finally, the winner of each category will win a Bollé helmet made specifically for the 38th Uovo d’Oro Audi event.
The sought-after Audi Trophy, a faithful replica of the crystal World Cup trophy, will instead be assigned to the female and male winner with the largest margin over the respective runners-up.
Along with the trophies, the top 3 ski clubs will win free stays at the Hotel Petit Palais in Breuil Cervinia (Aosta) for summer training on the glacier.
Other prizes drawn will include: an incredible 1-week trip offered by Sestrieres SpA, four stays at the Allegroitalia Pisa Tower Plaza, a tablet, cameras, TVs, drones, bicycles, fuel vouchers, Vergnano coffee machines, autographed Juventus FC and Torino FC jerseys and balls, skis, boots, goggles, sportswear, and many more!
