The national alpine skiing teams choose Sestriere for training and preparation ahead of the upcoming World Cup races.
The ski season on the Vialattea slopes officially began with the long Immaculate Conception weekend, which saw excellent attendance from skiers. Now Sestriere is preparing to welcome a week dedicated to competitive spirit and top alpine skiing athletes. Once again, the Colle confirms its role as a benchmark for national-team training: eight national teams are expected for this training session, an important recognition for the Vialattea slopes.
Having returned from the American races, the technical discipline athletes will train on the Kandahar G.A. Agnelli slope in Sestriere, which has been specially prepared for the occasion.
Today, Alex Vinatzer, fresh off a podium finish, opened the first training day together with his teammates and the men’s national teams of Sweden, Spain, and Morocco.
Starting tomorrow, further arrivals are expected, including the Italian women’s national team with Della Mea, Collomb, Mondinelli, Sola, Peterlini, Haller and Valleriani. In the coming days, the other delegations will also take to the slopes: Albania (with the talented Lara Colturi), Norway, Latvia, Argentina, and the Swedish women’s national team, represented by top athletes such as Sara Hector and Anna Svenn Larsson.
Among the athletes representing the Italian men’s team are De Aliprandini, Della Vite, Kastlunger, Sala, Borsotti, Canins, Saccardi, Barbera, Seppi, Pizzato and Talacci.
The training sessions will continue until Monday, 15 December, once again making Sestriere a key venue on the international competitive skiing scene.
