Sestriere and the Vialattea slopes are preparing to welcome the 43rd edition of the Uovo d’Oro Lauretana, scheduled for Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March 2026 on the Monte Alpette slopes. Over the years, this event has become a true benchmark for the national and international youth scene, attracting significant numbers and a high level of technical participation.
Proof of the event’s steady growth came in the 2024 edition, which recorded an all-time participation record with 2,039 athletes at the starting gate. A result that confirms the prestige of the competition and its ability to engage Ski Clubs from all over Italy and abroad.
The 43rd Uovo d’Oro Lauretana, a Giant Slalom race included in the national FISI calendar and also open to international athletes, is organised by the Sporting Club Sestrieres with the support of the Municipality of Sestriere. The event is held under the patronage of the Piedmont Region, the Regional Council of Piedmont and the Metropolitan City of Turin, recognition that highlights its sporting value and strategic importance for the Piedmont area.
On Saturday 28 March, the Allievi (born 2011–2010) and Ragazzi (2013–2012) categories will compete, while on Sunday 29 March it will be the turn of Cuccioli (2015–2014), Baby (2017–2016) and Super Baby (2019–2018), with the first racers starting at 9:00 am.
For the awarding of the Uovo d’Oro Lauretana Trophy, points obtained by the best male and female finisher in each category for each Ski Club will be added together according to the World Cup scoring system, excluding the Super Baby category. A formula that makes the challenge between participating clubs particularly engaging.
Last year, the trophy and the giant chocolate egg were won by the Sci Club Sestriere, which managed to prevail in an increasingly competitive race. However, the Uovo d’Oro Lauretana is much more than a sporting competition: it has always been a great moment of celebration and gathering for athletes, families and ski clubs. As per tradition, all participants will receive the classic chocolate egg, symbol of the event.
The weekend programme includes, alongside the races, the traditional institutional and celebratory moments. On Saturday 28 March at 2:00 pm, in the finish area, the prize-giving ceremony and prize draw for the Allievi and Ragazzi categories will take place. On Sunday 29 March, from 1:30 pm in Piazzale Kandahar (in front of Casa Olimpia), Ski Clubs will collect their identification signs for the parade which, at 2:00 pm, will pass through the streets of the town and end in Piazza Fraiteve, where at 2:30 pm the prize-giving and prize draw for Cuccioli, Baby and Super Baby will be held.
The top ten finishers in each category will be awarded and all athletes will take part in the rich final prize draw with numerous prizes up for grabs. An atmosphere of enthusiasm and sharing that for over forty years has accompanied one of the most beloved youth events in the skiing calendar.
