From April 1 to 3, the top stars of skiing will compete for the national title.
The mountains of Piedmont are once again becoming the beating heart of major alpine skiing events. From April 1 to 3, 2026, Sestriere will once again host the Italian Alpine Ski Championships, the most prestigious event on the national calendar, awarding the tricolor titles.
After four years, the 2026 edition of this highly anticipated end-of-season event returns to the slopes of the Vialattea in Sestriere, featuring both men’s and women’s technical disciplines. It is an opportunity to highlight the skiing heritage of the “Turin Alps,” which offer enthusiasts a high-level sporting experience.
The importance of the event for the region is further confirmed by the sponsorship of the Piedmont Region, the Piedmont Regional Council, and the Municipality of Sestriere, reflecting the sporting, tourist, and promotional value that the Italian Alpine Ski Championships represent for the entire Piedmontese mountain system.
Competition Program
The technical disciplines will take place at Colle del Sestriere with Giant Slalom and Slalom races. The stage of the competition will be the legendary Kandahar Giovanni Alberto Agnelli piste, a world skiing icon that has already hosted countless World Cup races, the 1997 Sestriere World Championships, and the 2006 Torino Olympics: a track at the heart of the Vialattea ski area that has written great chapters in international skiing history.
Specifically, on April 1, the Women’s Giant Slalom will take place, followed the next day by the Men’s race, with the event concluding on Friday, April 3, when both the Men’s and Women’s Slalom will be held.
Attending this event will be a special opportunity to see the top alpine skiing stars up close. As these competitions also count toward FIS points, alongside athletes from the Italian National Team, skiers from foreign teams may also compete on the slopes. They will not compete for the Italian title but will contribute to giving the event an international scope, making the competition even more exciting and spectacular.
“Hosting the Italian Alpine Ski Championships is a great honor for us. Events like this,” says Gualtiero Brasso, head of the Sporting Club Sestrieres Organizing Committee, “allow us to maintain continuity in organizing high-level sporting events and to offer athletes and fans slopes that have written important chapters in skiing history. Sestriere and the Vialattea have always been home to major events, and we are proud to once again welcome the best interpreters of Italian alpine skiing, while also providing an extraordinary opportunity to promote our territory and the Piedmont Olympic mountains.”
