Twenty years after the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics, the mountains of Vialattea relive a story made of great emotions, sporting achievements, and international vision. An event that enhanced the ski area, making it an undisputed protagonist of the Games and the stage for some of the most spectacular and widely followed competitions in the world.
Sestriere, the birthplace of alpine skiing, confirmed its role as an international benchmark. Its slopes—historic symbols of top-level technical competitions and hosts to countless World Cup races—together with those of Cesana Sansicario, represented the beating heart of Vialattea’s flagship Olympic discipline: alpine skiing.
Cesana Pariol also embodied the spirit of precision and adrenaline. It hosted the biathlon competitions and some of the most spectacular events of the Games, such as bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton. A concentration of technique and courage that highlighted the excellence of the infrastructure and organizational capability.
In Sauze d’Oulx, the youngest and most innovative spirit of the Olympics took shape, with freestyle competitions that brought energy and creativity to the Olympic mountains. A dynamic face that helped engage different generations.
Pragelato completed the Olympic spirit of Vialattea by hosting ski jumping and cross-country skiing events. A unique setting where technique, endurance, and tradition merged with the landscape, giving rise to competitions of great intensity.
Reliving Turin 2006 means remembering an event that made history, but also celebrating a Vialattea that, then as now, is synonymous with sport, excellence, and great emotions.
