A route that includes the use of the NUBE D’ARGENTO CHAIRLIFT (in the Borgata area – days and opening hours HERE), which provides quick access to the Aquila Nera refuge. From there, the trail continues along a dirt road that gently ascends westward — offering stunning views of the Anfiteatro valley and Valchisone — until it reaches the ridge dividing it from the Val Troncea, at an elevation of 2,400 meters. If you veer slightly left off the road, you’ll notice a faint trail descending along the ridge, dotted with edelweiss flowers.
The route then climbs eastward, eventually reaching the Tana della Volpe refuge, from where the view extends as far as the French mountains of the Barre des Écrins. You can choose to stop here or continue along the dirt road, which becomes progressively steeper, leading over grassy terrain to the summit cross of Mount Banchetta.
The return follows the same route downhill along the dirt road, which is quite steep in some sections, until you reach the NUBE D’ARGENTO CHAIRLIFT once again.
