Sansicario Borgo, a characteristic alpine village nestling in the midst of woodland, and Sansicario Alto, the venue of choice for the Super giant slalom competitions and Women’s Downhill Alpine Skiing during the 2006 Olympics, make this place ideal for both a weekend on snowy slopes and a summer holiday dedicated to sport and nature.
A true gem in the resort, Sansicario is a mountain hamlet, which developed over time from a series of ancient chalets (the oldest of which date back to the sixteenth century) built on a small plateau on the slopes of Mount Fraiteve. Perched on a natural terrace in the Upper Susa Valley, it provides a commanding view over the Montgenèvre Hill, the Monti della Luna (Mountains of the Moon) and Mount Chaberton. The old town was renovated and modernised in 1969, and today it is a well-organised tourist centre that will meet the requirements of the most demanding holidaymakers.
