Thursday 15 August the appointment with the “Grande Concerto di Ferragosto” (Big Mid-August Concert) in Sportinia, promoted by the Unione Montana Comuni Olimpici Via Lattea, is back on in Vialattea. This year the format changes and opens up to Italian rock with a challenge entitled “Vasco VS Liga”.
Two bands, “Standing ovation” and “Liga revolution”, will take turns on the terrace of Capanna Kind, which overlooks the blooming green meadows of Sportinia (Sauze d’Oulx), for a great day of music with songs that have marked various eras. Next up will be ‘The Spell of Ducks’, an indie-folk band from Turin whose sounds range from classic American country-folk, through the 1960s, to classic songs by Italian singer-songwriters. The Great Ferragosto Concert will open at 11.30 a.m. and is free of charge.
It is possible to reach Sportinia in a practical and fast way by chairlift that connects Sauze d’Oulx, locality Prariond, to Sportinia at a cost of 12 euro single way or 15 euro for round trip with ticket office directly at the lift departure or on line by clicking HERE. The chairlift operates from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It is recommended to go up to Sportinia well in advance to take your place in the natural amphitheatre, an extraordinary location for the event.
We would like to remind you that in Vialattea, the Rocce Nere chairlift and the Sestriere-Fraiteve cable car, linking Sauze and Sestriere, will be open, even on Ferragosto, for fantastic trips and excursions at high altitude, on foot or by mountain bike, as the lifts are equipped to transport bicycles or e-bikes.
