Great moves for the Tour de France 2017 that will be on from July 1st to 23rd. The route towards the “GrandBoucle” crosses Sestriere and the Olympic mountains of Piedmont.
In fact, these days Fabio Aru (Astana) and Chris Froome (Sky) found themselves in Sestriere at the same time to perform altitude training sessions. While for Fabio Aru training in Sestriere has become a routine, Froome is new to Sestriere, thus proving that the Col of Sestriere and the Olympic mountains of Piedmont are an ideal training ground to prepare for important races. An enthusiastic Chris Froome posted on the social media a video where he pedals on the “Colle delle Finestre” praising this historic dirt climb discovered during the Giro d’Italia. The winner of three Tour de France will be in Sestiere for some more days together with a few teammates, including Christian Knees (together with him in the picture).
Fabio Aru, returning to competitions with a good 5th place at the Critérium du Dauphiné, will remain in Sestriere together with his teammate AlexeyLutzenko (together with Aru in the picture), until the eve of the Asti-Ivrea line test of the Italian Road Cycling Championships, which will take place June 25th, and then will fly to Düsseldorf, Germany, where the 104th Tour de France will start.
