After hosting the ‘Trofeo Senza Fine’ (Endless Trophy) on the ski slopes of the Vialattea in Sestriere during the three days of the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup last 21-22-23 February, we are now ready to see the teams and athletes in action for the Giro d’Italia 2025.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 31, the penultimate stage — from Verrès to Colle delle Finestre and on to Sestriere Vialattea — promises to be a decisive moment in the race for the coveted ‘Trofeo Senza Fine’ (Endless Trophy).
Whoever arrives in Sestriere wearing the pink jersey will be on the verge of having their name engraved on the iconic trophy — a triumph twice achieved by Vincenzo Nibali, the last Italian to win the Giro d’Italia and now its ambassador in Sestriere for the Ski World Cup.
The Verrès–Colle delle Finestre–Sestriere (Vialattea) stage will be the queen stage of the 2025 Giro d’Italia, covering a distance of 205 km with an elevation gain of 4,500 metres. The Colle delle Finestre, reaching 2,178 metres above sea level, will be the Cima Coppi of this edition. From there, riders will enter the Vialattea ski area, passing through Pragelato before reaching the finish line at 2,035 metres on the Colle del Sestriere.
